A for Afraid
A chair alone. Empty. Waiting for it to be of use.
A chair alone. Empty. Waiting for it to be of use.
Chiseled into the wall. Forever plagued to watch and never partake.
Headphones. Used to drown out the buzz of the world.
Being dragged across the tile and countertop. Only allowed to feel one thing. Water.
A flower. Beautiful for only a limited amount of time before its life is over.
A house plant. Tied to one pot. Forever stationary.
A wall phone. No longer in use. Left behind by the fast-paced world of technology.
Never noticed but always needed. Taken for granted.
Stuck in the middle. Always expected to carry the weight.
On the ground, rooted. Only poking out of the ground until it is no longer of use.
Laid out on the floor. Only use is to keep the table stable.
The pavement. Singular in design. Accompanied by the feet of passersby.
A window’s only purpose is to bring light into an area. However, they are hidden at night.
Only made for design. No other use. Just “aesthetic” to the eye.
A bench with holes. The holes overlooked and never used.
A never-ending cycle of being aesthetically pleasing, never being anything more meaningful.
Faint and light. But it is there, living unnoticed.
A swan. Only for decoration. Always observed but never understood.
A screendoor. Accompanied but stuck forever.
Used as stability for a stationary bike. Never moving unless cleaned or thrown over and replaced.
Handles on a stationary bike. Uncomfortable, dirty, and unstable.
A tree branch suspended in the air. Until it is chopped down for overgrowth.
An air vent. Bringing life to a room while being neglected in cleanliness.
Light fixture. Provides light to a room until everything goes dark, forever not in control.
A brick on the floor. Cracking under the pressure of people's steps.
Lines in tile. Unnoticed. Only there for a short period of time and at a certain angle.
